Communication and Information Minister Tifatul Sembiring confirmed on Thursday that the ministry had received complaints about text message votes for Komodo connected to the New7Wonders of the world campaign.

“There have been complaints against operators but not many; only about 10 percent [of the total complaints],” he said as quoted by tribunnews.com.

He said that the complaints were being handled by the Indonesian Telecommunications Regulatory Body (BRTI).

The legitimacy of the New7Wonders foundation, the organizers of a competition to select and name seven of the world’s modern natural wonders, has recently been questioned by the government.

The competition is suspected to be rigged with various scams, including its text voting scheme.
