Extra deputy ministers won't inflate budget, Dems say
Democratic Party politician Ramadhan Pohan denied suggestions that the President’s decision to appoint additional deputy ministers will inflate state expenditures.
“It is not true, because there will not be any additional wages. The deputy minister’s salary is the same as that of an echelon I civil servant,” he said Monday, as quoted by kompas.com.
Ramadhan said that the appointment of new deputy ministers was a strategic move that would improve government performance.
“For example, when the President said he wanted a deputy law and human rights minister, he wants to improve the ministry. I know Denny Indrayana, who has been named the new deputy minister. He has integrity in the field of law,” he said.
